How To Remove Air Bag/Horn Chevy & GMC
I will start removing my transmission Friday thanks for the video 💪💪💪i been watching and reading comments for a month 💪💪💪 everything helps 💪💪💪
Glad I could help
What about fuel pressure regulator?
What about it?
Good video but does anybody know where the ground wire goes bolted to, my mechanic went MIA in the middle of my transmission job and I’m trying to finish installing it myself?
Which ground wire?
@@dudewecanfixit it’s a steel braided looking ground wire hanging there and I’m thinking it probably goes ground to one of the transmission bolts but I real don’t?
It’s not a 30mm that drives the bushing for pump
What size is it?
So there's talk about a 13mm bolt to unmount the canister from the metal mounting bracket. Mine was plastic and molded as part of the fuel tank. (2015 GMC Savana Cargo Van) With no "bolt" it was "clipped" in. Not knowing the proper way to remove it, I muscled it off. So, I pushed up on the canister as far as it could go and using a slightly larger screw driver, I pried out the bottom. Should anyone know the proper procedure, do tell! TIA
I haven't seen that style
4;42 loosin' what nutz?
The nuts that I pointed to were loosened prior to filming.
Just awesome. It's easy to forget to explain the small stuff and you got it.
Thanks!
Great video!! Thank you guys!! I recently gad my trainny replace at a shop. When driving home I noticed my airbag light was on. Are there any airbag wires or harnesses that you guys know off which might have been left disconnected on top or anywhere near trans????
I'm not aware of any airbag wires or connections near the transmission
@@dudewecanfixit thank you!!👍🤗
Awesome info. Its super easy to say "unplug wire" but its the little things that are appreciated. We take our own knowledge for granted and assume everyone has the same common knowledge. Lol
Glad it was helpful for you! We try to go into extra detail on everything!
5:23 the way buddy just smacked the shit outa that cannister 😩
You are the man I rebuilt my transmission from watching you you make I know they had to take you some time to do that video series but thank you thank you very much
It was definitely a process creating the video series, but worth it every time I get a comment like this! Thank you!
@@dudewecanfixit I finished my transmission put the torque converter on bolted it up to my 1998 GMC four-wheel drive pickup truck went to start it and it had like a hard spot in it and I thought the battery was dead so I hooked the battery charger to it Crank real hard again and in then it cranked up I heard a loud cut thump in the transmission and then nothing no gears frontwards backwards one two nothing, so I did something wrong any ideas or maybe what I tore up, thanks buddy
Great video! Thank you. During your torque sequence it doesn’t look like you have a digital “angle” torque wrench or are using an angle guide. Are you “eye balling” the 90 and 70 degrees or did you calculate the ft lbs that would put you at. I’m currently replacing both head gaskets and lifters on a 2012 6.2l with a failed lifter. I have a 3/8” 10-100ft lbs click style torque wrench but unsure if I need to buy one with angle for this one job.
I just eyeballed it
Great video dude you did fix it.
Thanks, I did fix it!
I have a question. Is it really important to purge the cooler lines?
If you had any trash or shrapnel in the system, definitely purge it very well
Mecanico barato
Gracias!
If you change the driver car door do you have to switch over all the locks and the door handle?
You can switch the lock so the key works
cant the charcoal canister vent just be eliminated from the vehicle from older pre 90 vehicles
I'm not sure
Commenting again because I'm doing another 4l60e.. this time on a yukon with AWD. Can I still drop the trans with the transfer case or do I need to remove the trans case prior to pulling the trans? There's a welded cross member that I think may he in the way.
In that application, I'm not sure. You might be able to, but take measurements to make sure
I have a 2004 V6 LXE toyota camery to you have a video for that my mhp lights went out and I need to replace the bulbs
I do not have a video on that body style
Can it just be plugged
It's not recommended
Can you do it on a super rusty truck? Thanks.
Yes, it's just more fun!
@@dudewecanfixit I wish the underside of my truck looked like that
I have had my truck for 6 years and it has always done that. easy fix
Glad you got it fixed!
thank you for making such a good video. I'm 19 years old and I own a 2001 chevy Silverado and my transmission went out on me when I was coming home one day and I didn't know what to do so I started looking on how to rebuild a 4L60E transmission and I came across your video at first I was hesitant about rebuilding a transmission but by watching your video you gave me the confidence to rebuild my transmission I had never seen the inside of a transmission before so I ordered a stage 2 master rebuild kit I also ordered the reamer and the piston cause they needed to be replaced and I followed your video step by step and got everything installed into my transmission and got it all put together and installed today and it runs like a dream now thank you very much
Wow, that's fantastic! Good job! I love sharing knowledge and hearing success stories.
Cutting the bed is the only way to do this job so easy and quick and without running the risk of breaking those plastic fuel lines. One note the purple wire is fuel gauge sending unit, the gray wire is fuel pump 12v and if you look closely there are two different size black wires, the bigger one is fuel pump ground wire and the smaller one is unit ground. I did mine in about 30 minutes including cutting the hole. 1991 silverado ext. cab short bed.
It is in fact very quick and easy! Removing the bed doesn't take very long if you have someone to help pick it up.
Never use a 11 on rusty drive shaft bolts its a 7/16
Thanks for sharing!
thank you
We appreciate the comment!
This is an awesome video, seriously!!! Very detailed 👍. But yea, i decided im not doing this 🤷♂️
Thanks for the comment! This job is definitely not for everyone, but it's cool to see how it's done anyway.
@dudewecanfixit maybe I will during the winter. I live in a part of AZ, where it's 111°. Nothing is fun or simple in this heat. Want to install a new converter before the cam swap...
Sounds like you are building something fun!
No better video out here than this one 👍✅
Thanks!
I curious what caused the head gasket leak in the first place. Is it possible the heads are warped or??? How do you know what to do once you got it apart. Just clean it and put it back together? All the videos I've watched on Chevy 5.3 Vortec the mechanic just slaps it back together with new gaskets like "that's it, all done"!. So did GM just make crappy gaskets is that why they are blowin". What should I be looking for to actually fix the problem.
I always bring the heads to a machine shop to get checked and resurfaced. The original issue (usually overheating) needs to be addressed at the same time. GM head gaskets are just fine.
@5:33 Sir, could you tell, what is an approximate weight of that door? I've heard it is about 40-45 lbs, but my husband thinks it is about 120 lbs. We have 2009 Nissan Sentra, the door looks the same. Thank you for you film again, so many details, like that inner socket disconnected from inside. I saw another film where one person was holding the door in his arms while the author was disconnecting that socket. Your way is much more convenient.
Probably around 80-100lbs. I was able to pick it up overhead
@@dudewecanfixit O no! I thought it is about 45 lbs most. But thank you very much for warning. They wrote me fm ebay it is 135 lbs w/pallet (for 2009 Nissan Sentra) and I thought that it was the pallet so heavy, but now I'm in doubts. I saw you were holding it overhead, but see different people can do different things. I'm so glad I didn't attempt to unscrew the door at the junkyard with my husband keeping it, no he wouldn't be able to hold right such a heavy object. Just support, support, that what is needed to handle this. Thanks a lot again.
Yes, be careful taking it off!
@@dudewecanfixit Thank you! Seems like so simple project, just 4 bolts, but that weight and the size of the door ...
Guess whos gonna rebuild his tranny😅 🫡me no reverse and second kicks hard when going in
What size jack stands did you use
I think mine are 3 ton
Great video I will definetly be referring back to it today when I install my rebuilt transmission.except mine is 4x4 and I have a transfer case that I install .
Couple extra steps with 4wd. I'm glad the video helps!
Fixed in 5 minutes. (a leaf, not a mouse). Thanks brother!
Excellent!
Great video man. I am trying to tackle this job myself for the first time in an '04 Escalade ESV. Dealer quoted me almost 6,000 to replace the trans in a vehicle I paid $3,100 for. I couldn't believe it. I have always wanted a car lift at my house so I used this as my "excuse" to buy the lift. $6,000 for the trans versus $400 for used rebuilt trans on marketplace plus about $6,000 for the 2 post lift and 24x20 concrete pad installation. Figured I was getting a "free" lift if I did the trans myself lol. We'll see how it goes. Props to you doing it on the ground.
That's a great way to look at it! 🤣 I can swap a transmission on the ground in a day. Surely, the lift will help with that. Be careful, the transmission is heavy and having it up in the air can be dangerous without the right help or tools. Other than that, it will be much easier to work on! 1 day labor for $6000 slab and lift? I think you made the right choice!
@@dudewecanfixit Yeah I was worried about that. I was thinking about buying a transmission jack from harbor freight. But I have a few dirt bike/motorcycle scissor lifts that I think are 400 lb weight limit. has a nice wide flat rubber top Was thinking that may work. Worst case I can lower the lift down once all the works done and use some floor jacks to finish lowering the trans down then just lift the truck back up on the lift. I noticed I have quite a bit more crap to take off with this AWD Escalade.
That sounds like a plan!
Does the 2021 have this primer pump? Have a cab and chassis and the filter was above the rear duelly axle. Thanks!
I am not familiar with how the 2021 model is set up
Thank!
Instead of taking all the little panels inside to disconnect the plug, why don't you just pull out the rubber grommet hose from the outside and take the wire harnesses out from there?
I tried it both ways, and the way that I did it in the video is much easier!
1st gen Sequoia owner here, I can verify that this process is the same for me. Yall are life savers!
That's great! Thanks for sharing
Love how you skip over the parts where you struggled with removing clips and brackets on the bell housing…. Make sure you hide the parts people actually might need help with. Fucking genius
Not sure what you are talking about. We purposefully leave things like that in. This truck may have had the transmission out before and be missing some pieces. We leave in all the juicy details
Thanks for the video, it was super ez like you said.
Glad it helped you!
I cant remove the ring gear because the forward planetary broke and left the tail part of it on the shaft yikes I might need another case i have no idea on how to remove it
Oh, wow. That sounds rough. Do what you can to remove it, but you might be correct on getting a new case
SO ARE ALL THE CANISTERS THIS SIZE? BECAUSE WHEN I LOOK UNDER MY TRUCK, I SEE AN OBJECT ABOUT THE SIZE OF MY PALM.
As far as I know, all the full size Chevy's have this size canister. You might be looking at the purge valve
@@dudewecanfixit I most definitely was… my canister is in a totally different location
My boy I don’t know who you are but you my friend are amazing
Thank you!
Great video! What transmission jack is that?
It's a harbor freight transmission jack
Could i even lift the box if i have 5th wheel brackets/rails?
That's a great question! Sadly, I don't know
I am guessing that the slip yoke is the same. Was the length equal too? Thanks
That is the same transmission and driveshaft from the original vehicle
Will these measurements work for on a2001 gmc extend cab 4 wheel drive z71
They should, but you can always double check with a tape measure before you cut
@@dudewecanfixit most definitely
What kit did you use or parts list
I got the rebuild kit from transmissionbench.com
Thanks for the best video on this project! Vacuuming the lines and blowing into the gas tank was perfect .. I’m not capable of dropping the gas tank. Lots of pellets came out when vacuuming! I’ve subscribed!
You are welcome!
Old video, I have the exact issue on my 10 Yukon I picked up- when you pressurize the tank- does that work for all models or just the body style you have? I’d hate to drop the tank and clear the lines
I think it would work for that year range
